In addition to the guest bedrooms, we have a lounge and dining room dedicated for you to enjoy in the company of other visitors. As there are TVs in all the bedrooms, the lounge is a ‘box-free’ room where you can read, use your tablet or laptop computer on the free wi-fi or simply relax in the comfy armchairs.
We have a good selection of books with local connections, both fiction and reference, including wildlife guides. During your stay, you’re welcome to borrow laminated OS maps of the area.
Breakfast is served in this room and there’s a super view from the communal dining table out over the channel and causeway that separate Grimsay from Benbecula – it’s a fairly regular occurrence for our guests to see the short-eared owl or other interesting birdlife while eating breakfast.
Outside, Ardnastruban House is surrounded by gardens that demonstrate our love for nurturing flowers and attractive plants. It’s unusual to find much more than a lawn around most properties in the islands, as the winter winds make it extremely difficult to keep plants alive. However, with lots of TLC we’ve achieved results that surprise other local residents and are admired by visitors.
We like a garden to be enjoyed, so there are several areas where you can sit and relax – in the shade or sheltered from any wind if you prefer. Take a look at our ‘House’ gallery to see lots of photos of the garden.
